Upstarts is growing 🌱

i missed our weekly newsletter last week, mainly cos i've been working behind the scenes of some huge updates.

to say i've been shipping updates like a mad man is an understatement Reader!

first, some upstarts stats for you:

  • launched 12 Feb 26 (we're now 1 month old! 🎂)
  • 68 members, and growing by the day!
  • 000s of page visits!

over the past week or so I've dropped some amazing updates, let's explore them:

first... groups!

groups are a way for you to create micro-communities around your interests or tech stacks, like stripe and resend or lovable and cursor. create a group free, invite people in, and start discussing stuff.

next... perks.

member perks are super discounts on super products, like my own ones. if you want to be listed as a perk, send me a DM in Upstarts.

GitHub sync. this is a biggie, and something i'm looking at expanding upon.

GitHub is THE main dev tool, whether you're coding by hand or vibe coding, you'll probably use GitHub. So to further dive into the world of "builders building cool stuff" we now have GitHub sync, allowing you to sync a GitHub repo to a project in Upstarts, pulling in your repo stats as well as the ability to auto-publish repo updates to your changelog.

This is massive 💥

That brings me to the new channels section...

In projects, you now have channels in your post feed:

  • changelog: this is your ongoing project build log
  • releasenotes: if you have a bigger update, announce it here (you have more characters for this)
  • testing: if you are testing something, or need beta testers, use this
  • showcase: got a demo or something to promote, use this one
  • ask: this is for other people to ask you questions about your project

There's also some micro edits I made too, as follows:

  • we now have a post view counter
  • add code snippets to your posts
  • you now have 280 characters in posts, not 140

there's probably loads more which i have completely forgotten about...

until next week folks!
